Just recently General Motors’ reached a milestone with their Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine as more than 1.5 million diesel engines have been created. The Duramax 6.6-liter engine came to be thanks to a joint-venture with Isuzu Motors Ltd and can be found on several different GM vehicles, including; Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, Chevrolet Express and also the GMC Savana.
The aforementioned joint venture, between GM and Isuzu, dates all the way back to goes back to 1998 with the first Duramax diesel engine being furnished in 2001 model year vehicles.
This engine is top of the line in its vehicle segment as it pumps out 397 horsepower paired with 765 lb./ft of torque. If you’re towing a large payload on the regular, there is no engine that is more capable than the 6.6-liter Duramax engine.
Betty Wessel, DMAX Chief Financial Officer, discussed the Duramax Diesel engine and how it compares to the competition, stating that, “Our Duramax diesel is one of the best in the industry. Reaching this milestone is no small feat for this diesel engine, but it’s probably safe to say that this Duramax engine will have many more milestones to come.
